Some people will often look through a website of computers or tablets and not really know much about all the bits that make up a computer and some people simply fork out the money they say, take the computer home and use it. For some people that is fine. The above computer specifications are the ones that are in the laptop that I am using right now. But let me explain further what all this stuff means.

Operating System: You will know this as Microsoft Windows 10 or Microsoft Windows 8.1 these are the most current operating systems from Microsoft. If you are running a Mac then you will notice it will be OSX 10.13 or higher. This simply means the software that you are running on the hardware of your computer.

CPU: Short for Central Processing Unit. This is the brains of your computer this is the part in your computer that processes all the information / data from all the other bits / parts inside your computer. The faster this part is the more data it can handle.

RAM: The RAM inside your computer is a place where software stores data that the CPU or programs need repeatedly. The more RAM you have the more programs your computer can run. This memory is erased when the computer is turned off. These days you will get computers that have 4GB, 8GB or 16GB.

Motherboard: This is the board in the computer that everything connects to. Your keyboard, video display, USB, HDMI, charger etc. This also has the RAM and CPU built onto this board.

Graphics: This is all about the video display what you see on your screen. Some laptops you will see screen resolutions like 1366 x 768 or 1920 x 1080 (FHD) or if your even more lucky 3840 x 2160 (UHD). The more dedicated memory you have on your video card the higher the detail graphics you can see. Video Cards also come in similar sizes like RAM 1GB, 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, 12GB, and 16GB although they are not found very often in lower end laptops in the higher end gaming laptops and desktop PCs these because a very important part of your computer. In laptops they are quite expensive.

Storage: Like I mentioned before RAM memory is erased when the computer is turned off but when you have storage like a SSD, M.2 or traditional hard drive these are where you save your programs and files so that you can get them at a later stage to continue to work on them or use them. You can get all different sizes of storage from as low as 64GB right up to 16TB (16,000 GB) the more storage you have the more stuff you can store. I would definately recommend an SSD or M.2 storage as your main storage on any computer you purchase. They are super fast and you can be up and using your computer within 20 seconds with a good SSD or M.2 Drive installed in your Desktop or Laptop Computer.
